When editor now selects baby bottle, I found that in various articles, this is usually the conclusion:
Service life: glass > CCP > PES > PP (do not use PC)
Chemical safety at high temperature: glass > PPSU = PES > PP
Price: PPSU>PES>PP=glass
Easy to clean: glass>PPSU=PES>PP

After BPA incident a few years ago, many parents chose BPA-free glass baby bottles. Glass baby bottles are easy to clean, not easy to scratch, and can withstand temperatures up to 600 degrees, making them more suitable for newborns. It is worth noting that thermal conductivity of a glass feeding bottle is very good, you can find out approximate temperature inside by touching outer wall with your hand, so that it is more convenient for a child to feed milk at right temperature.
The disadvantages of glass feeding bottles are also obvious: they are relatively heavy and uncomfortable for babies to hold on their own, so they are suitable for adult feeding. Because glass is brittle, it leaves small cracks when struck at normal times. In sudden cold and heat, it is easy to crack and break easily if you are not careful.
There are many types of plastic baby bottles, such as PC, PP, PES, CSP, silicone and other materials. Among them, PC feeding bottle contains toxic substance BPA, so it is not recommended. Plastic feeding bottles are light and not fragile, easy to carry around and relatively safe for babies.
Polypropylene feeding bottle made of polypropylene: poor transparency and easily scratched
PP is recognized as a safe food container material with a heat resistance of 110 degrees, it is drop resistant, strong and impact resistant. Typically, plastic products used in microwave ovens are made from polypropylene. The disadvantage is that it is milky white, poorly transparent, and residual milk stains are difficult to clean, and are easily scratched and hide dirt in smallest scars and crevices, which annoys caring and clean mothers. The thermal conductivity of polypropylene baby bottles is also poor, so it is recommended to replace them every six months.
PES and PPSU baby bottles are made from polysulfone. They are widely used in medical devices. Compared with CCP, performance is better. The temperature resistance of PES is about 180 degrees, and CCP is about 200 degrees. Resistance to disinfection PES100-200 times, PPSU2000 times or more. CCP can withstand repeated high-temperature boiling, high-temperature steam sterilization, and placing in a microwave oven is not a problem. The downside is that it is expensive and also shares similarities with plastic feeding bottles and milk stains are not easy to clean up. They have always occupied high quality baby bottle market and have just started to become popular in China.

PPSU is an amorphous thermoplastic with high transparency and hydrolytic stability. Products withstand repeated steam sterilization. Scientific name: polyphenylene sulfone resin, which is a product of polysulfone, abbreviated to PSF series. It is a new thermoplastic engineering plastic, which is a non-crystalline polymer compound containing a sulfonic group and an aromatic core in main molecular chain.
Polyphenylene sulfone resin consists of a base resin obtained by reacting p-polyphenylene sulfide with peracetic acid. Para-polyphenylene sulfide used in preparation of polyphenylene sulfone is obtained by reaction of sodium sulfide and para-dichlorobenzene. The polyphenylene sulfone resin has a minimum weight average molecular weight of 5000 daltons. Added excipients are substances that are approved for use in Parts 170-189, are generally recognized as safe substances in foods, and are approved for use in published rules and regulations. The glass transition temperature of polymer is (360±5)°C.
Basic Properties: A slightly amber linear polymer. Except for strong polar solvents, concentrated nitric and sulfuric acids, resistant to common acids, alkalis, salts, alcohols, aliphatic hydrocarbons, etc. Good hardness and toughness, heat resistance, thermal oxidation resistance, excellent creep resistance, corrosion resistance to inorganic acids , alkali, salt solutions, resistance to ion radiation, non-toxic, good insulating and self-extinguishing properties, easy molding and processing.
Wide use:
1. It is suitable for making heat-resistant parts, insulating parts, wear-reducing and wear-resistant parts, instrument parts and medical equipment parts. Polyarylsulfone is suitable for making low-temperature working parts.
2. Polysulfone is commonly used in electronics and electrical industries for production of integrated circuits, coil packages, contactors, sleeve packages, capacitor films, and high performance alkaline battery packages.
3. Polysulfone is used in microwave oven equipment, coffee heaters, humidifiers, hair dryers, laundry steamers, beverage and food dispensers, food and drink utensils, water glasses, milk bottles, etc. in household appliances. It can also replace non-ferrous metals for precision structural parts such as watches, copiers and cameras.
4. Polysulfone has passed relevant medical and food specifications in US and can replace stainless steel products. Due to characteristics of polysulfone such as steam resistance, hydrolysis resistance, non-toxicity, high temperature steam sterilization resistance, high transparencyb and dimensional stability, it can be used as surgical instruments, nebulizers, fluid regulators, heart valves, pacemakers, gas masks, braces, etc.
Because PPSU is a safe material, it does not contain endocrine-disrupting carcinogenic chemicals (environmental hormone: Bisphenol A), and because material has excellent heat resistance, heat resistance reaches 207 degrees. Because it can be repeatedly boiled at high temperature, it can be steam sterilized. It has excellent resistance to medicines, acids and alkalis, and can also withstand common liquid medicines and cleaning with detergents without chemical change. Lightweight and drop resistant, it is best in terms of safety, heat resistance, hydrolysis resistance and impact resistance. But price is relatively expensive.
